Ted Barnes Super Street Winner

Congrats to Ted Barnes for taking all the wins in Super Street at the NHRA Open at Toronto Motorsports Park last Labour Day weekend, Sept 3-6.

Anyone who has been to a racetrack in Southern Ontario has probably seen Ted Barnes and his 383 "Stroker" SB Chevy-powered Datsun race car. Ted's racing career all started back in 1987 at Dragway Park in Trophy class. Ran 19.50's in the very same Datsun 510, but with a 4 cylinder engine & manual transmission. From that point on, Ted was hooked. The car began to evolve into a serious race car by 1990.

Ted battled all day in Super Street before Ted took on Larry Pulver in the final round and took home his first Wally trophy on Saturday. Congratulations Ted! He also won the Best Engineered Award, what a Fantastic weekend! Win Saturday and semis Sunday - over 200 Race Cars and lots of people in the stands.

The Wally proudly stands on Ted's 1972 Datsun, powered by a 383 Chevrolet stroker small block, a Joe’s Transmission powerglide with a Moser rear that runs 10.40’s at 130 mph on a good day. (The Wally is the only person allowed to stand on the hood.) Ted gives thanks to Joe’s Transmission, Scott Conrad and P.I. for making it all possible!

Special thanks to Tony Hayes for the main photos, and Ted Barnes for the Wally photos.

Safety first when you are travelling with your awards, that Wally is heavy!
